Earlier today Darren Dreger reported that four outdoor games are in the works for the NHL schedule next season…

What is even more exciting about the tweet is that he mentioned Columbus as a possible destination for one of the outdoor games. Obviously every team wants to hold an outdoor game, and any city would welcome the opportunity to have the outdoor spectacle.
So far this season the outdoor games have been a success, but that isn’t to say that six outdoor games in the 2013-14 schedule hasn’t brought some critics. There have been comments that six games is way to many and the tradition of the Winter Classic is being tarnished by the extra games that are now part of the Stadium Series. Then there is the other side of it, the grandeur behind the whole experience, everything from the rink being built, to the final horn sounding.
Of course the NHL may be having these events for the fans, or for the players to have an out of this world experience, or it could be just the ridiculous amounts of money that is made by all. Either way, they are selling tickets, and making the game exciting – so everyone wins.
