The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled D Cody Goloubef from the Springfield Falcons on an emergency basis.  You can read the Blue Jackets press release here.  David Savard missed practice this morning due to illness.

Goloubef is a 24 year old native of Mississauga, Ontario.  He played for the University of Wisconsin where he had 37 points, 138 penalty minutes, and a +18 rating.  He was on the 2009 gold medal winning Canadian World Junior team. He was named to the 2014 AHL All Star Team along with Frederic St. Denis.

He was picked 37th overall at the 2008 NHL Draft.  He has played 12 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets and 176 games for the Springfield Falcons.  He has scored 1 goal at the NHL level and 17 goals at the AHL Level. This season, he has scored six goals and has 14 assists in 41 games.  He also has 61 penalty minutes and a +9 rating.

Without David Savard, the Blue Jackets currently have 5 defenseman and 13 forwards, including recent recall Cody Bass.  If Goloubef cannot make it to Columbus on time due to the weather and David Savard is still sick, the Jackets could roll with 5 D and 13 F. Who would take on the defensive role? My guess is Derek MacKenzie.  Who do you think it would be?

The Blue Jackets play the Buffalo Sabres tonight at 7PM.  You can read U&B game day coverage and check out the song of the game here!
