The Columbus Blue Jackets take on their old Central Division rivals, the St. Louis Blues tonight at Nationwide Arena. While the match up has lost some of its fire with the move to the Metropolitan Division, I am sure both teams will treat it like an old rivalry game. The Jackets are coming off of a big 4-2 win over the New York Rangers and are now 4-1-0 in the month of December. The Blues are off to a great start (21-6-3) but recently hit a bump in the road where they dropped 3 of 4 games (All 3 losses coming against California teams). The Blues rebounded with a 2-1 win on Tuesday at Winnipeg and a 6-3 blowout of the Leafs at home on Thursday.

The Western Conference has been arguably much better than the East so far this season, so a win over the Blues would be solid validation of the Blue Jackets recent turnaround. While Thursday’s Rangers game was huge for the players on the ice, with GM Jarmo Kekalainen and President of Hockey Ops John Davidson‘s connections to the St Louis Blues front office, I am sure they would like to beat up on their old team. With Curtis McElhinney out with a lower body injury, St. Louis native Mike McKenna will get the start, so this will be a big game for him as well.

Hit next to take a look at some stats for tonight’s game, game notes, and the Union and Blue Song For the Game!
