Columbus Blue Jackets vs New Jersey Devils: Three Stars

What an exciting end to a nerve wracking game!   The Columbus Blue Jackets came back from a 3-1 deficit to win 5-4 and beat Martin Brodeur.  There were only 3 penalties during the game, and both of the ones committed by the Blue Jackets were from Nikita Nikitin.

3. Brandon Dubinsky

Dubinsky had a very productive night.  He had 6 shots on goal, 1 goal, 3 assists and was a +3 for the night.  He had 0 penalty minutes, which is impressive after his outburst during the Pittsburgh Penguins game that got him thrown out.  Dubi currently has the most PIMs on the Blue Jackets, and most are because of his anger.

2. Matt Calvert

He only had one goal, but he played a dynamic game.  His speed was greatly missed while he was injured, so I am enjoying watching him live up to his nickname “Matty Hustle.”  He had 1 goal on 1 shot.  He was also a +1 for the night.

1. Cam Atkinson

Cam was electric last night.  He had a 4 point night and only needed one more goal for a hat trick.  I was really rooting for him with the Devils pulled Brodeur in the last minute of the game.  Cam was everywhere on the ice last night.  And that stick work: mesmerizing.

Honorable Mentions:

Curtis McElhinney – He made some crazy saves, especially in the third period!

Mike McKenna – He looked so pretty on the bench!
