Columbus Blue Jackets @ Boston Bruins

November 30, 2013, 7:00 PM, TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts

The Columbus Blue Jackets were able to enact their revenge on the Edmonton Oilers; a 4-2 win at Nationwide Arena healed the wounds of the 7-0 shutout loss to the Oilers from earlier in the month, as well as helped the Jackets bounce back from their latest 4-0 loss to the Nashville Predators. He we are again, the day after a Blue Jackets win, and we wonder if Columbus can string consecutive wins together. This is something they have not been able to do since before Halloween.

In my post game report last night, I said last night’s win over Edmonton loses most of its worth if the Jackets cannot beat Boston today, and I stand by that. Sure the Bruins are an outstanding team (they rallied against the Rangers yesterday with two goals in the third to win 3-2), but they are just the type of team the Blue Jackets need to face today. In the past, Coach Todd Richards said the team is incapable of handling success. Well, the easiest way to keep the Jackets from entering today’s game with a big head is to have them face one of the NHL’s better teams.

If we see the Columbus Blue Jackets from the last night’s first and second period, a win over Boston is possible. If the team from the third shows up, it will be another disappointing loss for the Union Blue.

Both the Jackets and the Bruins are playing their second of back to back games today. As of this morning, it is unclear whether Columbus will hold a morning skate or whether it will be optional, as the team arrived in Boston late last night.

This is the third and final match up between the Blue Jackets and the Bruins. Boston has won the previous two, 3-1 in Columbus and a 3-2 OT win a day later in Boston. It was the 3-2 OT loss to Boston where the Jackets played one of their better road games, and even though it did not show in the win column, the Jackets proved they could run with the Bruins. They will need another complete 60 minute effort if they want to have a chance today.

Next up we will take a look at some stats for today’s game, as well as some game notes and the Union and Blue Song For the Game!
