Statistics are a major part of sports and help us determine how a team or player is progressing through a season. It may still be early in the NHL season, but I don’t believe it is too early to take a look at some important stats. The Columbus Blue Jackets currently sit with nine wins, twelve losses, 3 overtime losses and are situated in the bottom of the pack in the Metropolitan Division.

With at least 6 players currently injured, the Blue Jackets are in for a tough week.   There are three games on the schedule: two at home (finally) and one away. Hopefully the players who are left uninjured find some consistency and capitalize on pivotal moments.

  • 18 – James Wisniewski
  • 16 – Ryan Johansen
  • 15 – Brandon Dubinsky
  • 13 – RJ Umberger
  • Ryan Craig and Tim Erixon are the only players who have not registered a point with the Blue Jackets this season.  They have during their time with the Springfield Falcons, but not the big club.

Shooting Percentage

  • +5 – David Savard
  • +3 – Nick Foligno, Matt Calvert
  • -6 – Jared Boll, Cam Atkinson, Ryan Johansen
  • -11 – Jack Johnson
  • Jack Johnson has the most time on the ice of any player, and he always plays on the penalty kill, so it only makes sense that he is a -11.
