The Jackets win! The Columbus Blue Jackets pulled off a win over the Ottawa Senators on a Sunday matinee game. They won 4-1, even though the Senators out-shot them.
Third Star: Derek MacKenzie
He had 1 goal, 3 shots, 2 hits, 2 blocked shots, and was 45% in the face off circle. Take a look at the effort from everyone involved in that goal, especially DMac. And the leaping celebration. Classic!
Second Star: Sergei Bobrovsky
Bob had one heck of a game, saving 29 of 30 shots. He had a .967 save percentage for this game. If he hadn’t pretended to be a brick wall, this game would have gone south quickly. The Jackets played some great hockey, but without Bob, it could have been a lot worse. He now has a 2.72 goals against average and a .912 save percentage for the season.
First Star: Ryan Johansen
12 seconds into the first Columbus Blue Jackets power play, Ryan Johansen scored giving the Jackets a 1-0 lead. 8 seconds into the second Columbus Blue Jackets power play, Ryan Johansen passed the puck to RJ Umberger who scored, giving the Jackets a 2-0 lead. RyJo had 5 shots, 1 blocked shot and 1 take away. He was also 58% in the face off circle, which is the highest of any Blue Jacket this game. I know I’m not the only person impressed with his play this season. What do you think?
Honorable Mention: James Wisniewski
Mark Borowiecki elbowed Jared Boll and received an elbowing major and a game misconduct for it. As Jared was on the ice, James Wisniewski came over and defended him. Wiz earned misconduct, fighting major, and instigator penalties totaling 17 minutes. That is quite the show of leadership from Wiz there, sticking up for his teammate there. WISNIEWSKI FOR CAPTAIN! Kidding. (Sort of)
