For a game that started off very slow, this one ended far from that. To start off both teams were trying to feel out their opponents and playing cautiously. About half way through the first period, the game started to open up. It was a game filled with glorious chances for both teams. The game went to overtime when Cam Atkinson had a shot blocked that led to Milan Lucic‘s Game winning goal, which was his 8th goal this season and Columbus’ second straight overtime loss. The game in a 3-2 loss for Columbus
In a game where the Jackets led shots 34-31 the team continued to struggle finding the back of the net on some great chances. However, defensively Columbus played very well, but with two goals coming from re-directed pucks there was not much they could do. Sergei Bobrovsky continued his solid play, stopping 31 out of 34 shots. He has shown why the clear starter is BOB.
One player that stepped it up tonight was Nikita Nikitn. That’s right, Nikitin. At one point in the game he was so far out that I was already firing up a tweet blasting him. Then he flew back and made a diving block to save a scoring chance for Boston. Nick Foligno scored a goal in his return. He has been sorely missed by the CBJ.
For me, one of the biggest issues Columbus had was Boston’s speed in clearing the defensive zone. Before the defense could set up it felt like the Bruins already had great chances to score. Columbus struggled clearing the puck from the defensive zone which has been an issue that has happened a lot as of late.
Even with the loss the Blue Jackets have points in three straight games. Now they just have to find a way to get the win and the extra point. With that being said Columbus has earned 4 of 6 points in the last three games. However as we all know one point can cause you to miss the playoffs so every point counts.
