The Blue Jackets are back in action tonight at Nationwide Arena against the Montreal Canadiens. Tonight’s game is the second of back to back games for the Jackets, which sees the CBJ coming home after a OT loss to the Boston Bruins. While the overtime losses to Washington and Boston were disappointing, over the last 3 games, the Jackets have gotten 5 out of 6 possible points. There wasn’t much more for Columbus to do in both overtime games, as the bounces just did not go their way.

Tonight will be the second time the Jackets and Canadiens meet, the first a 5-3 Canadiens win back on October 17th. That game saw Columbus rally back from a 3 goal deficit to tie the game, but Tomas Plekanec put the Canadiens back ahead with a little over a minute left in regulation.

Like the Jackets, the Canadiens have struggled since their last meeting. The Canadiens have lost 5 out of their last six games. Still, Montreal is only surrendering 2.10 goals per game, 4th fewest in the league. They also remain deadly on the power play, with a PP% of 23.6, 3rd best overall.

The Jackets need to put in the same amount of effort they did against Washington and Boston and things can start turning in their favor. The main issue is it seems that the same cast of characters show up every night, while it is the same group that is always missing. The questions arising about Marian Gaborik did nothing to jump start his scoring touch last night against Boston, as he finished the night with one shot on goal.

Next we will take a look at the Keys to the Match Up!
