Game Day Edition: Columbus Blue Jackets vs Washington Capitals – Who Is Hot, And Who Is Not?

The Blue Jackets visit our nation’s capital tonight to take on the Washington Capitals at 7pm. This is the second meeting between the two Metropolitan Division teams. Washington won the previous tilt 4-1 on October 19th. The Capitals are currently 2nd in the division with 19 points, just 3 points behind Pittsburgh. They were riding a bit of a hot streak that began at the end of October and continued through November. They have gone 6-3-1 in their last 10 games.

Columbus finally ended their five game losing streak against the Islanders on Saturday with a 5-2 win. They look to build on that performance, and get a win against one of the better teams in the Metropolitan Division. The win against the Islanders was much needed to calm down the fan base and boost the morale in a discouraged locker room, but the CBJ need to show that Saturday was not just a fluke performance. A win against the Capitals will show that they can run with the better teams in the Metro division. They have yet to defeat one of the marquee division rivals, losing to Pittsburgh, Washington, and the New York Rangers.

As part of our pre-game coverage, this post will look at players from each team and highlight who is going into tonight’s game hot or cold. (All stats courtesy of Extra
