Three major players for the Columbus Blue Jackets have been injured recently.  There were some updates posted today, so let’s take a look at who might be making an appearance on the ice sooner rather than later.

Boone Jenner:

Boone went down with a leg injury during the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on October 25th.  Coach Todd Richards had said that he would be out “double digit days” and he was.  He has definitely been missed on the ice.  He has contributed 2 goals, both on the power play.

What is missed the most is his work ethic.  The boy works hard because he knows that he is still proving to everyone around him (and probably still himself) that he is ready to play with the big boys.  Being on a line with Marian Gaborik or Brandon Dubinsky must feel surreal to him.

Boone practiced with the team today after practicing in the OhioHealth Ice Haus last week with other injured Jackets Matt Calvert and Nathan Horton.  Coach Richards said in his meeting with the media following today’s practice that while Boone may not be back this week, he will be traveling with the team and hopes to make an appearance next week on their 4 game road trip through Canada.

“It’s great to be back skating,” Jenner said. “I’m just trying to take a positive step every day and move toward getting back into games. No setbacks, I’m trying to get better each day I’m out there and that’s been my goal. It feels good to get some skating in, for sure.” – Boone Jenner
