Columbus Blue Jackets Stats: 11 Games In

Statistics are a major part of sports and help us determine how a team or player is progressing through a season. It may still be early in the NHL season, but I don’t believe it is too early to take a look at some important stats. The Columbus Blue Jackets currently sit with five wins and six losses and are situated in the middle of the pack in the Metropolitan Division.

The Blue Jackets play the Pittsburgh Penguins at their barn Friday night, and Nationwide Arena on Saturday.  Things are bound to be exciting, as the CBJ take on one of the best teams in the league.

  • 10 – Marian Gaborik
  • 9 – James Wisniewski
  • 8 – Brandon Dubinsky
  • There are 3 regular players (all forwards) that have yet to register a point: Derek Mackenzie, Jared Boll, and Matt Calvert (injured). All defensemen that have played have registered at least 1 point.

  • +5 – David Savard
  • +4 – Brandon Dubinsky, Marian Gaborik
  • -4 – Derek Mackenzie, Jared Boll, Jack Johnson
  • David Savard has the best plus/minus, again.  Coach Todd Richards told him at the end of last season that he needed to get in better shape or his chances of playing again in the NHL were slim.  He obviously took that to heart as he is playing better than ever before.
