Vote Now: Who Would You Start in Goal?

Don’t get me wrong, Sergei Bobrovsky is 100% the starting goal tender of the Columbus Blue Jackets. However, if you were in Coach Todd Richard’s position, who would you start against the New Jersey Devils tomorrow night? The Devils come into the game struggling, but also after defeating the New York Rangers. The Devils could be a dangerous team in disguise.

Bobrovsky needed a night off on Sunday, and has been struggling so far this season. McElhinney’s performance Sunday night was somewhat of a surprise, as up to date he has been a career backup. The offense and defense seemed to play better as a cohesive unit, and had better control in the defensive zone. Was this because they subconsciously tried harder because they did not have last year’s Vezina winner behind them?

One successful start does not make McElhinney the #1 guy in Columbus and Bobrovsky’s job is safe, but should Todd Richards continue to ride the hot hand? Or, would starting the McBackup in a second game create a goalie controversy?
