Columbus Blue Jackets vs Boston Bruins
Where: Nationwide Arena
When: Saturday October 12, 2013 @ 2:00 PM
Broadcast Information: Fox Sports Ohio, 97.1 The Fan
Both the Jackets and the Bruins enter today’s game at 2-1, with the Bruins coming off a shutout loss to the Colorado Avalanche and the Jackets riding a two game winning streak. Both CBJ wins came on the road and they look to continue their success to get their first home win of the 2013-14 season. It will be face paced, heavy hitting hockey at Nationwide Arena tomorrow, and the Jackets will have to bring their A game if they want to take down last year’s Eastern Conference Champs.
The good news is that the Blue Jackets will have defenseman Fedor Tyutin back in the lineup, who has been nursing a lower body injury. Tyutin will bring a veteran presence back to a young blue line, and will likely get top line minutes.
It is expected that Tuuka Rask will be in net for the Bruins, and Sergei Bobrovsky for the Jackets. Rask is 2-1-0 with a 1.00 GAA and a .966 save percentage and Bob is also 2-1-0 with a 2.28 GAA and a .920 save percentage.
One element to consider that could benefit the Jackets is that of former Bruin, Nathan Horton. While Horton cannot lend a hand on ice, it has been reported that Todd Richards has consulted with him about the Boston Bruins in order to better prepare for today’s game. It may not be the deciding factor against the Bruins, any information that can help with the game plan can only help the Jackets.
The Jackets have shown they can win on the road, now they must give the home fans something to cheer about. The early start always throws a curve ball in the players preparation, but the Jackets need to avoid coming out flat and take it to the Bruins right from the puck drop.
