Columbus Blue Jackets Player To Watch

With opening night upon us, I am going to write about a young player for the jackets who you should watch for.  You probably already know I am talking about Boone Jenner. Jenner will be one of the best players on our roster this year. In a 5-3 victory over the  Pittsburgh Penguins, Jenner had two goals including the winner. Also in a 5-4 win against the Carolina Hurricanes, Boone had a goal and an assist. This guy was the brightest star in our pre-season, yes it is only pre-season, but the talent and poise he showed was tremendous!

Boone was all over the ice with huge hits and a couple fights. Jenner for the most part was on our top line with Brandon Dubinsky and Marian Gaborik.  Which is where he will likely be tonight.  That line was our most productive during the pre-season.  I expect them to keep it up as we move into the regular season.

For me I think Boone will be a candidate for the Calder Trophy. My projection for Jenner this season is 28 goals and 20 assists. With numbers like those, I think he will have a very good shot at winning the Calder.  The only thing that is unsure as of right now is if Jenner can play at his top level against the elite teams of the eastern conference. One thing that I know for sure, is whether or not Boone performs as well as he can, is this will be a great season! Go Jackets!
