Boone Jenner, the 20 year old rookie, is entering this season on the Blue Jackets top line. Jenner couldn’t ask for more going into his rookie season, playing with Brandon Dubinsky and Marian Gaborik, could life get any better?
Boone is known for his hard work, determination, and racking up points. While playing for the Oshawa Generals of the OHL, Jenner scored 124 goals and had 153 assists in 252 games played (includes playoffs). Last season during his short stint with the Springfield Falcons, he scored 3 goals and added 1 assist in 5 regular season games and another 2 goals and 3 assists in 8 playoff games.
In my fan poll yesterday I asked you to vote on How Many Goals The Trio Of Jenner-Dubinsky-Gaborik Will Score This Season?. In that article, I mentioned that a healthy amount of goals for Jenner to contribute would be between 10 and 20. I want to predict a total amount of points though. Which leaves me to predict how many assists he will have. I think if Jenner can stay up in the NHL and remain healthy, then between 20 and 30 assists shouldn’t be too much to ask, especially if he remains with Dubinsky and Gaborik.
With my predictions that would give him a low of 30 points and a high of 50 points. Like I said, if he plays at the level he was in the preseason, and with the same company, those numbers shouldn’t be out of the question, in fact they could be higher.
Between 30 and 50 points is a pretty big gap, I think it is only fair if I narrow down my prediction. I am going to play it safe and say between 35 and 40 points. That would line him up with rookie performances like Jakub Voracek, James van Riemsdyk, and Carl Hagelin. I would consider that good company to be in when comparing rookie years.
Which brings me to the poll, I want to know what your prediction is…
