We here at Union and Blue have beaten this topic to a pulp, but I think one last poll is in order. It was apparent during the preseason that the Blue Jackets front office, and Coach Todd Richards would have a tough choice on their hands.
Both Ryan Murray and Boone Jenner were playing really well, probably even better than expected. Some might even say that Jenner’s strong play was more noticeable than Murray. The last poll that I posted with these two as the main attraction actually asked who you thought would play more NHL games this season, and Jenner won by a landslide, which was a slight surprise to me. Now that they both made the team right from the get go, maybe they will be tied this season and both play 82 games.
Coach Richards noted this weekend that he will continue to play Jenner with Brandon Dubinsky and Marian Gaborik. That line was undeniably the hottest line on the team, and you can’t blame him, or act surprised that Richards is sticking with those three together. Jenner – Dubinsky – Gaborik could very well be the first line that you see on the ice come October 4th. I am certainly looking forward to seeing those three play together this season. I think they will be a dynamic trio that could cause some havoc!
Ryan Murray is currently slated to be paired up with James Wisniewski. Both solid defenseman, they should pair up well. They both can move the puck up the ice, and Wiz adds a touch of grit, which you saw against the Penguins in the first preseason game, just a touch, haha.
I am finally going to make it to the poll now. I want to know if this move came as a shock to you, I think I was little surprised by both rookies making the team, especially with the Blue Jackets history with rookies. So here we go, the last Ryan Murray or Boone Jenner vote…this offseason!
