I finally realized what the preseason is for. It isn’t for players to get into game form, or to find out what rookies are going to make the squad, no, it is just a teaser for the fans to get pumped up for the regular season. We are now knee deep into training camp and preseason, and I couldn’t be more excited for the regular season to start.
Maybe it is the fact that games aren’t being broadcast and I am stuck listening to most of them on the radio other than the two games on the NHL Network. I guess it shouldn’t come as a shock that the only two preseason games that have been televised have been on the NHL Network and of course CBJ has faced the Penguins both times.
Columbus Blue Jackets fans are going into this season extremely excited and have been even more enthralled since the preseason has started. Being able to see different players more, plus finally getting a good chance to see Boone Jenner and Ryan Murray has been the highlight of this preseason. Cuts have already been made though and the team is dwindling down to the roster that we will be seeing on opening night come October 4th.
I am waiting patiently for opening night and trying not to get too caught up in the preseason. Not that I am not 100% engaged, but I am trying not to look to much into scores and simply concentrating on how each player is playing and so forth. Speaking of which, some players have stood out for me, they include Boone Jenner, Marian Gaborik, Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov, and Ryan Murray. They all seem to be playing quite well and look to be in tip top shape.
I hope you are enjoying the preseason, and are looking forward to the regular season as much as I am. Stay tuned to Union and Blue for more preseason coverage, and look to us for pre and post game material! Make sure to follow us on Twitter and “Like” us on Facebook!
