As mentioned in the CBJ vs BUF Preview, a second group of Blue Jackets will be playing in Minnesota tonight against the Wild. While the more popular game tonight may be the home game against the Sabres, the Blue Jackets game against the Wild is just as important, in regards to training camp and preseason of course. Puck drop is set for 8 PM at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
The young forwards of Columbus will be up against the starting goalie of the Wild, Niklas Backstrom. The most notable young Blue Jacket forward who will be seen for the first time in preseason is 2013 first round draft pick Kerby Rychel. Players who will also be suiting up tonight include Ryan Murray, Ilari Melart, Cody Goloubef, Jack Skille, Blake Comeau, Cam Atkinson, and Ryan Johansen.
A few noteworthy players that will be skating for the Wild tonight, other than Backstrom starting in goal, include Mathew Dumba, Nino Niederreiter, Jason Zucker, and Mikael Granlund. Tonight’s game will be the Minnesota Wild’s first game of the preseason.
I think you can expect Ryan Murray to shine again tonight, especially if he wants a full time roster spot, he has to continue to play well in the preseason to have a shot. Another player to watch tonight will be Ryan Johansen, as he is making his preseason debut. Jack Skille will also be fighting for an NHL roster spot, he already has one game under his belt during this preseason, and in my opinion he played pretty well against the Penguins. Make sure to check back for player reviews and a overview of the game.
