A Prayer To The Hockey Gods

Got this idea this morning from a tweet (Thanks @davelindeman)….here goes nothing….

A Prayer To The Hockey Gods:

Dear Hockey Gods,

Last season was somewhat of a success for the Blue Jackets, but it wasn’t enough. All us fans are buzzing though, not from the unfortunate miss of the playoffs, but from the fact that the team came together and was smoking hot at the end of the season. I don’t think I am just speaking for myself when I say this, but can you help the Columbus Blue Jackets (just want to make sure you hear that team name right) continue that hot streak into next season (maybe you can end one hot streak, wink wink the Detroit Red Wings making the playoffs, and help start another).

As the NHL season is about to begin, we look to you Hockey Gods, to help guide the Blue Jackets to the playoffs, in terms you will understand better, the holy lands. Give the team strength to come together as one, and crush everything in their sight. Please send some extra strength towards Sergei Bobrovsky, the team needs him to shine, and really feeds off his strong play.

I am not asking for the world, just another playoff birth, the hockey fans of Columbus could use it, and the Blue Jackets organization could use it. They have worked hard this offseason, please notice their efforts and reward them accordingly.

Please watch over the players throughout the season, keep them healthy, scoring lots of goals, and of course being unselfish and racking up the assists. Please continue to give Head Coach Todd Richards the wisdom and hockey knowledge he needs to direct the team towards victory.

Finally, a thank you goes out to you, the Hockey Gods, we thank you for bringing us John Davidson and Jarmo Kekalainen. In them we have learned to trust again, we trust in them to bring Columbus to the highest of hockey supremacy, being able to lift the Stanley Cup, also known as the holy grail of hockey. In your honor, we will sacrifice the Eastern Conference teams that we will now be facing.

Amen
