It is officially the first day of Summer and the NHL is still playing hockey. I don’t know about you, but I love it! I could watch hockey all year round, especially playoff hockey. It’s too bad the players can’t turn it up a notch all season, games would be intense and exciting every night.
This time last year, Lord Stanley’s Cup had already been hoisted and skated around the ice, June 11th to be exact. Obviously because of the lockout the season was pushed back slightly, which is giving us this great hockey series running into the summer.
There is still a lot to be excited about this summer though, other then the culmination of the Stanley Cup Final. The draft is right around the corner, and I know you all are excited about that. Plus, there is free agent frenzy, which I feel has been somewhat downplayed because there is no clear cut superstar available.
As much as I don’t want to wish away the Summer months, I can’t wait until October when the 2013-14 season starts up. With how well CBJ played at the end of the season, it has got me anxious to see what this next season will bring. An exciting race to claim a playoff spot? Or another disappointing year without CBJ in contention for the greatest trophy in all of sports?
