The Morning Skate: 6/14/13

Another lonely night on the couch without hockey last night. Who came up with the schedule for the Stanley Cup Final anyways? What a horrible combination of days. It was such a spectacular game on Wednesday night, and all it did was leave us wanting more…more hockey, more sleep, more coffee, and more hockey. Glad you joined Union and Blue for your daily dose of hockey this morning (or whenever you read it).

With the lull in the Stanley Cup Final, I decided I am going to do something a little new. So without further adeiu I give you….

Flying Through Fansided:

  • The Fansided Mock Draft continues to push on, yesterday the Buffalo Sabres were on the clock. Sabre Noise‘s own Richard Spalding selected Adam Erne of the QMJHL Quebec Ramparts.
  • Pens Labyrinth reports on the extension of Coach Dan Bylsma and Evegni Malkin’s new 8 year contract.
  • Check out Causeway Crowd‘s reaction to losing game one of the Stanley Cup Final.
  • Oil On Whyte is claiming that the Oilers are “The Last True NHL Dynasty“. A must read, very compelling argument.
  • Bolts By The Bay takes a look back in time…”I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out”. Is the enforcer a dying breed?

Charging Through The Headlines:

  • Malkin just signed a huge deal…now are the Pens “negotiating deal with Letang“. [NHL.com]
  • I hope you have heard by now that the NHL is not doing an awards show, it is a shame, I was just starting to enjoy them. Yahoo! Sports explains how the NHL is announcing the award winners.
  • The Bleacher Report goes in depth on why the Rangers should hire Alain Vigneault.
  • Lindy Ruff is still a target as well for teams with coaching vacancies, the Dallas Stars may have him as a target. Read more from ProHockeyTalk.
