After trailing by a 7-2 deficit, the Western Conference All-Stars came back to win the Skills Competition by a score of 12-11 on Sunday night in Providence, R.I. The highlight of the competition may have been goalies: Barry Brust, Petr Mrazek, and Justin Peters stopping 14 consecutive Eastern Conference attempts in the Breakaway Relay.
Representing the Springfield Falcons were d-man Tim Erixon, forward Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, and netminder Curtis McElhinney (pictured). Andy-Marchessault and Erixon will start in the All-Star game, that will be played Monday night at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.
McElhinney stopped eight of ten in the Rapid Fire challenge, and two of three in the Pass and Score (3-on-0) competition.
Martin St. Pierre of the Rockford IceHogs scored on the last shot of the Breakaway Relay to make the comeback official for the Western Conference.
