Following the 2-0 win Fri 11-9, in his interview, Tim Erixon said relative to goaltender Curtis McElhinney play [Curtis got his 3rd shutout of the season] ” having him back there lets you play calmly, you know you can trust him back there”.
This statement may be of interest, relative to the Blue Jackets and Steve Mason. Last year, many times I heard the statement that goalie Curtis Sanford, calmed things down. Hopefully the lockout will end soon, and we will need to address the goaltending situation in Columbus. With a fairly large turnover in Blue Jacket players, maybe Steve mason will have a cleaner sheet to prove or disprove his “trust” with his team mates.
McElhinney is 7-1-1 in the Falcons 10 games this year, with 9 of these being starts for Curtis. Maybe he is hot, or maybe he is good, but 3 shutouts in 9 starts, that’s unreal. It does mean the defense is playing well before him, but it also is a credit to him, as the defense does not stop everything, the goal tender has to stand on his own. Last night, the Whale had a 5 on 3 which the Team stopped.
