Cam Atkinson is tied for the Springfield goal lead with Ryan Johansen [below] with three goals. They are also tied with 3 assists which is part of a 5 way tie for 4th place in the assist category. JAM [Jonathan Audy-Marchessault] and David Savard are tied for the assist lead with 5 and John Moore is in 3rd with 4 assists. JAM has the club lead in paints with 2 goals [both on the power play] and 5 assists for 7 points.Shots on goal are both an indication of the system of play  the aggressiveness and hockey sense of players. IE. being in the right place at the right time.  JAM leads the club with 28 SOG, but John Moore is second with 25. Cam is a close 3rd with 23 and Matt Calvert is right behind with 21.

There is no question the group that was to be hopeful Jackets are providing some of the primary fuel for the Falcons great start. John Moore is a +8, tied for 2nd in the AHL.

As mentioned in last weeks update, Ryan Johansen’s start is a huge positive for the Blue Jackets. With him returning to his “natural: center position and being in his 2nd year of Pro hockey may be contributing to him finding his scoring touch again.

Of course the fact that journeyman goaltender Curtis McElhinney has been red hot is also a big factor. With 2 shutouts in this young season, and with some serious shorthanded time in front of him, he definitely has stepped up his game. He is on a Blue Jackets 1 year contract.

Ryan Russel has returned from injury and has 1 goal. Goaltender Allen York is still on the injury list.
