Lockout Day 38- Blowin in the Wind

This just doesn’t appear to be the Columbus equivalent to a Midwest corn field a la “Field of Dreams”, or in other words, they ain’t coming– Photo by gary2

Bob Dylan Blowin’ In The Wind Lyrics

How many roads most a man walk down

Before you call him a man ?
How many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand ?
Yes, how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they’re forever banned ?
The answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

Today is the drop dead day for a Nov. 2 season start with an 82 game schedule.

The song was written in the 60’s and is supposedly a protest song. Here in 2012 it is a protest as we see the NHL season and the Columbus All-Star game apparently blowing away, ie blowin in the wind. So get a good look at the All-Star logo, It will be a few years before you see it again.

on a Hockey bit of information……

From the Falcons “Bird Blog” this tidbit.

The costs of running an American Hockey League team vary from franchise to franchise depending on lease, travel costs, staffing, affiliation deals, etc. However, equipment and stick costs, although not identical for all teams, are big expenses in the budgets of our National Hockey League affiliate (in some cases the AHL team bears the brunt of these costs). Based on 25 players the line item for gloves is almost $9,000. The cost of skates is close to $55,000. Hockey pants and shells cost over $11,000. Helmets and visors can run almost $20,000 and elbow pads will cost almost $1,500. The costs for goalie equipment and skates is close to $50,000 a year. It is not an inexpensive sport.
