Well, I sorta been waiting on a reaction on the Todd Richards hiring, and so far not so much. The resident negative writer for the Dispatch put his usual nasty 2 cents worth in, but anyone who reads him, knows what to expect from him. Ten Minute Misconduct has his usual fine analysis of the event and if you haven’t read it before in “The Hub” read it now.
The bottom line is Todd Richards is the coach, and he has a 2 year contract. I’m noting that the Blue Jackets pulled out all the PR guns they could to present this announcement.
Rick Nash sent a statement. Obviously Rick has many fans in Columbus. And of course, he could be back next year, who knows, but this was to placate his fans. J Boll has fans so he was there. And the current sweetheart of the fans, Jack Johnson, who is carrying the colors in Europe right now, sent his message. And the 2 Columbus area fan favorites RJ and Vinny were there. James Wisniewski sent a positive message And last but certainly not least, for the Scott Howson haters, Craig Patrick was there endorsing the move.
I personally think the more was right. His “trial” period of 41 games was pretty much a mess. Players going and coming, injuries and the Rick Nash announcement, to name a few. I still would like to know who set the last 19 game goal, I mean who’s idea. But with what we will call the leaders of the new Jackets blessings and backing, THE RUBBER NOW MEETS THE ROAD.
Lets hope the vehicle above the rubber has the horsepower and handling to performe as we expect, because,
WE want the CUP
