Waved Off...Blue Jackets Fall To Blackhawks

Fit to Be Tied:  It’s been almost 7 games that the Blue Jackets have tied the game up…only to have it unravel.  There were plenty of chances to go around last night in Chicago…in the end, mistakes cost the Jackets…again.

On the Phone AgainToronto was busy last night…Chicago had 3 disallowed goals and Columbus had one.  (Is this a soccer game or hockey?) Plenty of pucks were being kicked in…the last by Brassard’s skate.

Missing You:  The Jackets are without 5 regular players and our back-up goalie.  Not that this is the whole story to the misery, but it does mean something.  Love or hate Boll, pretty obvious he matters.

Numerology:  The Jackets‘ 1-9-1 stat can easily be turned to 911 and that wasn’t lost on the CBJ faithful who tweeted thru the game last night.  However…

11 is considered a lucky number.  The Blue Jackets have played 11 games…it’s been 11 years…it’s 2011…soon, it’s the 11th month…Calvert is back, he wears 11.  Maybe this means something.  At this point, I’ll take anything…

So…good things, bad things and the usual.  So it seems.  The Jackets‘ held their own against the Blackhawks…the fore-checking everyone saw last Tuesday against Detroit? Yeah…it was happening.  The “go-to” guy, Vinny Prospal scored, (in a perfectly executed play…one of the beautiful moments last night…) to tie the game.  Derek MacKenzie tied it up in the second.  Then, the waves started….waves of minor penalties, goals waved off…3 for Chicago and 1 for Columbus.  Plenty of opportunities if only we could’ve taken advantage of them.

So, it’s home where the Jackets will host the Ducks.
